Country roads, take me home. To the place I belong.

West Virginia. My journey home to my sister's took me briefly through the great state of West Virginia.

In fact the road home was long; a six hour ferry from Santorini to Athens. A flight from Athens to London, from London to JFK.  A drive from JFK to Virginia.

All that only to hit the road 24 hours later in an RV with my brother-in-law, my sister and two dogs for a 10 hour drive in tornados and torrential rains up the coast to Mystic CT. for a week of camping.

To say that was what I expected when I got home would be laughable.

Thinking I was done with traveling adventures for a bit, I was hesitant to agree to join them on this little excursion. On the other hand I came home to spend time with family and they were headed on vacation so I tagged along.

I'm not sure why I expected my time in Virginia to be calm and quiet. My sister's life has never ever been calm and quiet.

And I know this.

And yet, I inserted myself in and then was shocked that it was exactly as it has always been.

Filled with dog licks and dander, medical crises and mechanical failures, natural disasters and man-made dilemmas.

All of this is and has always been her place of normal, the place from which she operates at her best.

For me, it is overwhelming at best.  I have never understood how she can handle it all.

But she does, with a smile and a bright-side attitude and with gratitude.

We did manage to get out and see a few things in all that rain. Connecticut is really so pretty in and around that area.

After returning to Virginia I got to spend some quality time with my nephew’s family which includes my almost three year old great-niece. Warm melted heart 💕

As far as "home" still not sure what that means and where that is and what happens next week, next month.
