Walk On... and if your glass heart should crack, and for a second you turn back, oh no, be strong...

If you haven't realized it, all my posts begin with a music reference. I have been lucky in my entire 30 year professional career. I have been in environments that allow me to listen to music ALL DAY LONG. I am therefore someone who listens to the lyrics, listens to the entire album and associates places, faces and spaces with music.

In Melbourne Australia this week I have walked and walked and walked. Some miles logged were intentional, some were because I doubted my own internal gps, deferring to technology only to be led in the wrong direction sometimes by a mile or two before hopping off of a tram and walking in the other direction. Lesson learned, trust- the answers live inside me.

Finding myself in Melbourne during the Australian Open, I could not pass up the opportunity to attend. Watching professional tennis was something he and I enjoyed. We both loved watching athletes at the top of their game laying it all out on the court or field. I was lucky enough to enjoy two full days at the Open and have decided to try to catch all four majors this year- Roland Garros in May, Wimbleton in July and New York in September!

Melbourne is a cool city, art on walls around every lane, construction (growth) everywhere, international in its food and culture. If the heat and the walking hadn't zapped my energy at night I would have seen more of it's infamous nightlife.

Below are some of my favorite photos taken while walking the city. This street sign Mc Cracken Lane cracked me up as it reminded me of that old "is Phil there, Phil who, Phil McCracken" joke that he used to laugh his ass off about. Walker's doughnuts- my Seattle family now has a new business to bring to the states.

And some of the best moments at the AUSOPEN first and second round play. It was an honor to watch Maria Sharapova, Novak Djokavic, Madison Keyes, Caroline Wozniacki and Rafael Nadal all play. It was also fun spotting Will Ferrell sitting one section over(bottom center photo, center)

And most of all the wall murals all around the city especially in the lanes as they are called here, just waiting to take you by surprise as you turn the corner.

and finally... there is Bowie, the cavapoo who made my day at the hairdresser so much fun!!
